1. What happens if I become ill?

Malvern House can offer full nursing care and admission to hospital is only considered where absolutely necessary. Many of our Service Users come to us as Residential clients at first so that should their needs change over time they would not be required to move to another home later. However if any of your needs do change and are not able to be met by the Home, available options will be discussed with you, your next of kin/representative and any other relevant professionals such as your GP. 

 

2. Can I bring my own furniture with me to Malvern House?

The only limit placed on you wishing to bring your own furniture is the size of your room and safety regulations. Malvern House actively encourages Service Users to bring their own furniture as it helps them to settle in. We will be happy to discuss with you the feasibility of bringing your own special items into the room you have chosen.

 

3. What activities does Malvern House offer?

Malvern House has an Activities Co-ordinator who offers a range of activities from outings, visiting entertainment in the Home, music and movement, bingo, quizzes, gardening and craft activites. Our activities vary depending on each Service User's requests and wishes. We do everything possible to meet your individual choices of activities.

 

4. When can any family and friends visit?

As Malvern House is your home, there are no restrictions and visitors are welcome at anytime although we do ask where possible to avoid mealtimes. Refreshments are always available to your vistiors as you would offer in your own home and visitors who have travelled far are welcome to join us for a meal.  Please let us know in advance so this can be arranged.

 

5. Can I come and go as I please?

Service Users are free to come and go as they please. All we ask is that you let us know that you are going out.

 

6. Can I smoke?

For Health and Safety reasons, smoking is not allowed in the building. Where Service Users wish to smoke in external designated areas, assistance is provided where necessary.

 

7. What about the Fees?

Our fees vary depending on your needs and circumstances. We would discuss this with you and your family at the point of enquiry once we have a good idea of your requirements. At the moment they range between 314 - 600/week but if Social Services are involved you would not need to pay all or, in some cases, any of this yourself. You will be provided with a contract detailing our Terms and Conditions if you do have to meet the fees yourself but in either case please do not hesitate to ask us any questions as we are only too happy to advise and help.

 

8. Can I keep my own GP?

If you are currently living in the Saltash area it is likely you will be able to retain your own GP. Where a change is required, GP services are provided by two local practices and a visiting GP visits the Home routinely once a week or more often where required.

 

9. What about other Services?

A range of visiting professionals adds to the services and facilities that Malvern House already offers: Hairdresser, Chiropodist, Optician, Dentist, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist. The Home also offers on-site laundry services.

 

10. How can I be sure that Malvern House is a good Home?

We pride ourselves on providing individual, high quality care at Malvern House. Please view our latest CQC inspection report below for objective evidence of this but even better than that, come and view the Home and talk to the Manager or Matron about how we can meet your needs.
