Staff & Activities at Malvern House

Malvern House Saltash

Staff & Activities

In addition to the Registered Manager (Dawn Lavers), and Deputy Manager (Clementine Frances Bacon) there are 8 Registered Nurses and 14 Care Assistants. Ancillary Staff including 2 Domestics, 3 Cooks, and 3 Laundry Assistants. Property maintenance is carried out by the Property Maintenance person Martin Jackson. We usually have a full complement of staff and as a result, rarely need to use agency staff.

Our activities are arranged on a twice weekly basis including festival and holiday activities and include arts, crafts, cooking, quizzes, visiting speakers, reminiscence sessions, singing, exercising along to music, flower arranging and gardening. We try to cater for all Residents and have an activity volunteer who visits Residents for individual activities if they are unable to partake in group activities.

We have a dedicated Service-User’s iPad which can be accessed by all Residents for Apps and video calling as well as a Resident’s roving mobile phone for incoming calls.

We have a lovely mature, south-facing garden which is often used throughout the summer particularly by Residents, relatives and staff for relaxation and enjoyment. All Residents including wheelchair users can access the garden as they wish as it is easily reached from the main building.

Some other Residents and Visitors

The Home also has a Cocker Spaniel called Tia who is often found following the tea trolley around in case a biscuit should fall off and who loves visiting Service-Users in their rooms. Two of the litter of pups she had in 2018, Ruby and Rebel, have recently joined her team.

Visiting pets are very welcome as long as they are pest-free and kept under control during visits
